Aspirations Employability Portfolio

One of the greatest criticisms from employers and top Universities about Sixth Form or College leavers today is that too many young adults lack widening experiences and confidence. All of the best Universities in the Country (The Russell Group Universities) will accept students with 3 A*’s at A level but academic achievement is not enough to secure your place. Instead of students spending the time and energy to obtain a 4th A Level we believe that this time is better spent securing 3 A*s and developing the skills Universities and Employers are desperately looking for to accompany academic excellence… Employability Skills!

The Aspirations Employability Portfolio not only addresses the issue of confidence through developing presentation/public speaking skills but it is designed to build-up the leadership ability of every student in order to clearly distinguish you from your competing peers across the world.

The Aspirations Employability Portfolio will help you to be more employable and attractive to top universities and it will also aid you in developing skills which can be applied to all areas of your life.

These abilities will be developed through:

  • Studying Leadership
  • Meeting leaders
  • Lectures
  • Group work
  • Presentations and public-speaking
  • Starting a Business
  • Mentoring
  • Personal reflection

What leadership skills will you develop?

The key leadership skills you will learn about, put into practice and revisit throughout the year are:

  • The ability to form a vision
  • How to develop the leadership mind-set
  • Developing the power of self-discipline
  • Understanding the importance of having values when leading
  • Developing the ability to Influencing others

How will the Aspirations Employability Portfolio be taught?

The programme for Year 12 will include 3 core projects with real clients to develop employability skills. Students will work in teams to complete the project briefs set by the client.

The programme for Year 13 will include the completion of an EPQ or a Business Portfolio, building on the skills and experiences gained in Year 12. All students will develop and launch their own start-up company.
